Cody Colvin Kennedy, beloved son, brother, and friend passed away on October 29, 2018 in Thornton, CO. He was born on April 28, 1994 in Long Beach, CA. He was 24.

He is survived by his mother, Jennifer, his sister, Cayla, his father Jim, his best friend Mark and many friends and extended family.

Cody grew up in Erie, CO and attended schools in Boulder, CO. He graduated from Fairview High School in 2012. He also earned a Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering Technology and a Math minor from Metropolitan State University of Denver in 2017. He was pursuing a Master’s degree in Systems Engineering at George Washington University.

Cody was an Eagle Scout with Troop 78 and loved his job at Raytheon in Aurora, CO. He had many hobbies including winemaking, skiing, attending concerts, camping, hiking, backpacking, Legend of Zelda and video games. He was a varsity wrestler in high school and played saxophone in the marching band. He bought his own home at age 23, he had just started hiking 14ers, and he and his best friend built a drone from scratch as their senior project.

He traveled all over the US by car and train, as well as to Mexico to build houses for the homeless when he was 10 and 11 with his family. Other family trips included France, England, Belgium, Netherlands, Scotland, and Ireland. He loved his trips with Scouts to learn to sail in Florida, canoe in Canada and Yellowstone, etc. In high school, he took a trip with the band to Florida where they marched down Main Street at Disney World. He became a first responder while in college and carried his emergency kit with him everywhere.

He was brilliant and taught himself to transpose music for other instruments like the Ocarina. His dream job was working for Tesla someday.

His decision to take his own life, a life of so much accomplishment and promise, was completely unexpected and shocked everyone who knew him as we were all looking forward to the amazing bright future we all knew he would have.

In honor of Cody's life, accomplishments, and struggles, we are establishing a scholarship fund for students with ADHD.
