Rene's Vet Bills

Rene is the most gentle, loving, wonderful Eclectus parrot. He's sociable, happy, and excited about life. On June 10th I got up in the morning and found him very sick lying on the bottom of his cage, not moving, too weak to even grip or perch. He spent 48 hours in the ICU at the vet, and it was established that he has severe hepatitis with possible liver failure. 

Rene responded to treatment, but he's still not better. He's starting to lose weight again, and needs more medication and treatment on top of the treatment he was already given. We have no way of being certain if his liver has fully failed or not without a biopsy, which is stressful on him, but expensive as well. With his weight dropping steadily again, we need to know how much more treatment to give, and be able to keep this special feathered love going.

His current vet bills amount to $1300 so far, with likely more to come. $2300 would cover any potential further tests, overnight stays, and medications that would come up along the way as we try to get Rene back to health and being a happy bird.
