Dear Friends and Family,
Hello, my name is Gillian Fortier. I graduated from Naugatuck High School in 2014. The one passion I have in my life is softball. I have had my ups and my downs with this sport but I have stuck with it for 14 years.
Softball is a sport that I have been playing my whole life.
Throughout high school I had amazing stats and got awarded All Naugatuck Valley League and All State all four years of my high school career. I got the opportunity to play softball in college; I currently attend Albertus Magnus College in New Haven, Connecticut. My freshman year of college, I was named the Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) Rookie of the Year and also the Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) Player of the Year.
I have received an invitation for a once in a lifetime opportunity. I was asked to go play softball in Cape Town, South Africa!! On this trip, we will be playing three softball games, holding two clinics, and visiting some tourist attractions. This would be an experience of my lifetime and I would love to be able to experience it.
Here is where I need some help; the trip is about 5,000.00 dollars so I need to do some fundraising. If you would like to or can help in any way, please visit my Gofundme page or get in touch with my parents.

We will be practicing at the complex where the Junior Women’s World Softball Championship was held. We will be taking a tour where Nelson Mandela was imprisoned before he became president. Our first game will be played against the top club team in Africa. We will also visit the Castle of Good Hope and District Six Museum. We will hike to the top of Table Mountain & even get to go on a safari to see the big game animals of Africa. Our third game will be played against a professional women’s league team. Lastly, we will drive along the famous Chapman’s Peak Drive to Cape Point Nature Reserve & the Cape of Good Hope, and enjoy white sand beaches and wildlife such as ostriches, baboons, zebras, and penguins.
