Haven of Hope

Our hearts break with news of brutality toward women and children in the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Africa. Rebels sexually assault these females, with broken glass bottles, tree branches, and rifles. This often leaves them unable to reproduce. Some of these women become impregnated as a result of the attacks. Due to tribal customs, the women and babies are rejected by their families and villages. The women have nowhere to go and are left to live wherever they can find shelter.

For 5 years, a man with a heart for these women, Dr. Sosthene Birhange has performed reconstructive surgeries for these women and delivered their children with little or no financial compensation. He currently works out of Celpa Hospital without adequate lighting or the required medical equipment needed and has at times operated only by the light of a window. 
 
We are asking you to partner with us to provide these women with restored hope and a future. Our goal is to assist with finances for the renovation of Celpa Hospital in which Dr. Sosthene practices and to help with the costs of reconstructive surgeries and babies being delivered.

The initial step will secure the first phase of the building purchase. We will then renovate and equip this facility for these women to have a home in which to recover, receive counseling, and learn a skill or trade in order to be able to rebuild their lives.
