Bring Abby Back

Donation protected
Girish, Abby and friends performing "Diamonds in the Sun" in 2011, not long before Abby's descent into illness.  Lokah Samastah Sukhino Bhavantu  is a mantra with this message of love and hope:  "May all beings everywhere be happy and free, and may the thoughts, words, and actions of my own life contribute in some way to that happiness and to that freedom for all"

Our dear friend Abby Scoville, a 34-year-old resident of California, has been incapacitated as a result of serious illness. Over the last 4 years, Abby has had biochemical imbalances that have slowly been building and culminating in what symptomatically appears to be a brain injury. A year ago, Abby had what we thought was a heat-stroke episode at which time she developed a serious case of stage 4 adrenal failure leading to severe heart palpitations and inflammation throughout her body and brain. After a recent CAT scan, doctors believe that she may have actually suffered a stroke. What this looks like is that she now has some serious cognitive challenges (much like a stroke victim) and has a hard time processing or retaining information and communicating. Despite these challenges, there is still hope of "bringing Abby back" with the right kind of health care and treatment since there is no permanent damage from what we can tell. Abby is still very coherent and present and in good spirits emotionally so is fortunate in that way.

Without a precise understanding of all the causes of Abby's health issues causing her to be so completely debilitated, the current reality is that ever since May of 2014, Abby has been bedridden, unable to walk or drive, requires a great deal of assistance from friends and family and is unable to have any quality of life. And as domino effects go, she's been unable to work and make any money for her basic survival needs and especially for the health care she desperately needs. We are using Abby's Medi-Cal coverage to get some basic tests done but still need more funds to help pull her out of this severe health crisis while also supporting her basic living needs.

As some of you might know, Abby is a classically trained cellist and has been playing since she was 7-years-old. She has also been in the service of being an influential cello teacher to the young. We would love to see Abby regain her health so that she can not only get back to having a normal human existence but so that she can return home to Music, her great passion in this life.

Infinite thanks from the bottom of our hearts,
Laurie and Charlene
