Dedication of JR Blinkenberg Field
The Soquel High Varsity Softball Field will officially be renamed ‘JR Blinkenberg Field’ on Saturday, June 24th. The ceremony will include a celebration of JR’s life and his contributions to the local softball and sports community. The field dedication and unveiling of the new field sign will take place at noon followed by a fun filled wiffle ball game and lunch.
JR was a supporter and friend to the local softball community and endeared himself to student athletes at Soquel High for over twenty years. He was a fixture at games, practices, team events and fund raisers. JR donated a golf cart for field prep work. He purchased monogrammed jackets for every player and gave gifts to every senior player at graduation. He contributed his time and resources to benefit sports programs county wide including Cabrillo GALS and Soquel High Girls Basketball.
All current and former players and their families along with all of JR’s friends and family are invited to help celebrate the dedication of JR BLINKENBERG FIELD.
