Keep Us Close to NICU
Our second child, first daughter, was due March 2nd but decided the day after Christmas seemed more appropriate for her arrival.
December 26th I delivered Teagan via emergency C section, due to my placenta rupturing, at the Army hospital on Ft. Campbell. Unfortunately, the hospital did not have the proper equipment or staff to care for Teagan, weighing only 2 pounds, 15 ounces and she was sent to Centennial in Nashville.
Luckily, my husband Christopher and I were able to be set up with a room at the Ronald McDonald House to stay close to her. However, there is a 30 day limit and with the way things are looking it will be much closer to her actual due date before we get to bring Teagan home. We can go back on a waiting list to return to RMH, but we have to be on the list for 2 weeks at the minimum.
With me pumping breast milk in order to feed her, it is so important that we stay as close to Teagan as possible during her NICU stay. Plus, the time I get to spend with her means so much to me especially after we made the decision to send our son to stay with my in-laws in Ohio while we endure this situation.
Donations would help us pay for a hotel during the 2 week minimum period while we wait to return to RMH; in addition to helping with gas as my husband still has to return when needed for work back at Ft. Campbell, as well as the daily meals which aren’t provided for us. Anything extra would go towards buying essentials we would need for when we bring her home.
I know two weeks may not seem like such a long time, but after coming so close to losing her, and not getting to see my son in addition to all this, getting to see her every day has been keeping me sane in the middle of all the chaos. So please, help me stay as close to my daughter as possible.
