WSI staff disaster fund

As most of you know tropical Cyclone Winston has been recorded as the worst storm in Fiji history.  Although there was major devastation everywhere we were among the very lucky ones that only suffered minor damages.

However, some of our loyal staff did not do so well and their suffering ranges from roofs torn off and missing to total devastation with homes and belongings completely destroyed. The storm to date has claimed 40+ lives but the toll is sure to rise when they finally reach the more remote villages buried in rubble.

World news has covered this event so I am sure you have seen some of the dramatic coverage on your local news no matter where you are.  Some of my generous customers and friends have offered to help those that need it the most and want to send me some donations to offer those that I can reach within my company. Some have already done so without us asking, which is an amazing show of grace. These kind acts have inspired me to find a stronger way to help.

We are currently looking at ways to monitor the funds already received into a special account and also establish a “most needy” list to offer these generous donations to some of our staff.   Sending to the other funds (UNICEF/RedCross) is always another way to donate but this way some of my customers have suggested will have an immediate effect on those in need.  If you are a customer all of these people (135 staff) have already served you in one way or another through your orders and these donations will have a direct effect on them through you. WSI will also be one of the supporters in this effort so we all share in helping some of these poor souls get back to a normal life.

Each donor will receive a special thank you note from those you help and we will issue a special private newsletter to let you know what we were able to achieve.  Thanking you all in advance from our hearts for any amount you would be able to spare our wonderful
staff.

Walt Smith International Fiji has been located on the Royal Palms Road, Navutu for over 20 years right on the water.   Most of our employees are living in nearby villiages that got hit hard by the cyclone and do not have fund available to quickly rebuild.  This fundraising is going to be used for all of our effected employees in Fiji to help get the supplies needed to get them back in their homes as soon as possible.
