Write On Walls Scholarship

The creation of this fund was built off my desire to continue to enforce scholastic achievement through the power of writing. Poetry itself has served as the greatest gift I could ever ask for and I would be remiss if I did not do my part in giving back to those who have supported or need support.
It is through the relentless pursuit of honing my skills in poetry and teaching the many youth I have come across, that I have decided to start this college fund. I plan for it to aid in sending students of color with an affinity for the arts, in attending any higher learning institution of their choice.
The fund is named for my last book because the phrase "write on walls" encourages people to get out and tell their stories. It seeks to engage those that are hurting or those that are healing and propels them to speak out and speak up. Speak out against injustice, against abuse, against pain and suffering or to speak up about happiness, about achievement or about goal setting. To write on walls is to yell to the world that you have a place in it and you will not be overlooked, under represented or under appreciated. You are here to make a difference and this fund plans to help you do just that.
Each year I plan to raise $3000 to give to a graduating high school senior who has been accepted into any school of their choice. In order to raise this money I have pledged to give a percentage of all the book sales towards that amount. Also to show that you never know where support may come from, I am asking any and everyone who would like to be apart of sending a young person to college to donate to the fund. Anything given will be greatly appreciated and together I know that we can continue this fund for many years in the future.
