Heart Surgery Expenses

I underwent major heart surgery and I'm required to be out of work for a *minimum* of 4 weeks. I just started my job a couple months ago, so I'm not eligible for short-term disability or FMLA, unfortunately (otherwise I'd take full advantage, trust and believe). I'm the proud/stubborn type, so, this is very Twilight Zone-y for me. Of course, any assistance will be *eternally* appreciated, to say the least.

P.S. For what it's worth, my heart condition is genetic, not the result of a lazy/careless lifestyle. I mention this simply because I'm certain it's a curiosity to some.
