World's Largest Couscous

Chef Farid Zadi was born in France to Algerian Berber parents. Berbers invented couscous, a tiny pasta like dish made from durum wheat semolina flour. It is thestaff of life in Algerian, Tunisia, and Morocco.

The current Guinness World Record for the largest bowl of couscous weighed 6.04 tonnes (13,315 lb) and was displayed at the International fair of Algiers, Algeria on 3 June 2004.

Chef Zadi would like to break the world record for the largest bowl of couscous in Los Angeles. 

It will cost $28,000 to break the record. He has a sponsor who will match $14,000. 

The record breaking event will be held in South L.A./West Adams. The couscous will be donated to local shelters and people in need South Central Los Angeles.

The event will bring a lot of attention to those who are working to help improve the neighborhood and food distribution systems. 

Couscous is the heart and soul of Berber cooking. Couscous is heritage, family, and soil. 

Breaking the world record in Los Angeles, Chef Zadi's adopted hometown; where his chidlren, family, friends, and customers live will be a truly meaningful experience for Zadi. 

If this campaign is successful, the record breaking couscous will be made in time for Christmas.
