I am a Christian Woman taking on the 30 day Ramadan Hijab Challenge to support the World Hijab Day Organisation.
The World Hijab Day Organisation is a non profit organisation that aims to fight the prejudices, bigotry and religious hatred against our hijabi sisters for their choice to wear the hijab. On February 1st every year women of all faiths are encouraged to wear the hijab for the day to help raise awareness and experience first hand what it is like to wear the hijab. The organisation is non religious in terms of promoting Islam or encouraging people to convert. It is purely about raising awareness through education and experience.
I am the Ambassador for Qatar as well as now being involved with the organisation on a voluntary basis in various roles.
The intention is to help fight Islmaphobia worldwide and make this world a more accepting and peaceful place to live in.
The World Hijab Day Organisation relies on donations to fund their work which includes self defence classes, Muslimah Mentoring Program, business opportunities for Muslimahs as well as many other projects.
This year, as a Christian, I am taking part in the 30 day Ramadan Hijab Challenge where I will wear the hijab every day during Ramadan 2018 to help raise awareness of this wonderful cause.
Ramadan is an important month in the Islamic calendar so what better time to show my support to my hijabi sisters worldwide. As a Christian I feel it is important for all faiths to support each other in their beliefs and their spiritual journey without prejudice. I shall wear my hijab every day through Ramadan with pride, knowing that I am showing the world that we don't have to be separated by faith and that to experience part of someone else's faith gives us a better understanding and respect for others as well as an opportunity to learn for ourselves what it is like to 'walk in another person's shoes'. I hope to not only raise awareness, money for WHD and for me to gain a greater understanding of something unknown to me.
I am aiming to raise £500 to donate to the organisation to help with their work so please help me achieve my goal!
