The Worker’s Cottage Residency is a DIY artist’s residency program, aiming to offer the opportunity to city-dwelling international artists working in any medium and format seeking a break away from the megalopolis.
The residency will offer a rent-free studio space (120 m/Sq.) in a quiet and isolated location with the possibility of accommodation at the Notre Dame Hamlet, in Southern France.
Our goal is to provide an opportunity for artists in need of a break from the city in a peaceful environment. A place where the participants can recharge, meditate, develop a project, write, compose and reflect on their practice.
The Worker’s Cottage Residency will allocate spaces for artists for up to 4 weeks. It will provide technical support and up to 400€ worth material bursary.
The studio includes a sound system, a video projector, and photographic lighting set with backdrops. Residents will also have access to wood and metal workshops.
Besides the studio and accommodation, there will be the possibility to develop and present new work within the local gallery scene.
The fund will help to cover rent fees, materials, and the cost of moving pieces of equipment donated to the program by artist friends and me.
We aim to start the program, for the year 2019 and would like to celebrate the opening by inviting international artists from Chelsea College of Art, Master Fine Art program year 2017/18 to join the class of 2018/19, in order to help in the development of the philosophy of the program and to use the residency as an international mixer event.

La résidence offrira un studio (120 m2) dans un endroit calme et isolé avec la possibilité d’hébergement dans le hameau de Notre Dame, dans le sud de la France ou ses alentours.
Notre objectif est de fournir une opportunité aux artistes ayant besoin d'une pause de la ville dans un environnement paisible. Un lieu où les participants peuvent se ressourcer, méditer, développer un projet, écrire, composer et réfléchir sur leur pratique.
Le Worker’s Cottage Residency allouera des espaces pour les artistes jusqu’à 4 semaines maximum. Il fournira un support technique et une bourse materiel pouvant aller jusqu'à 400 €.
Le studio comprend un système audio, un vidéo projecteur et un ensemble d'éclairage photographique avec fonds photo. Les résidents auront également accès à des ateliers de bois et de métal.
Outre le studio et l'hébergement, il sera possible de développer et de présenter de nouvelles œuvres sur la scène des galeries locales.
Les fonds récoltés contribueront à couvrir les frais de loyer, le matériel et les frais de déménagement d'équipement offerts au programme par des amis artistes et moi-même.
Notre objectif est de commencer le programme pour l'année 2019. Nous souhaitons célébrer son ouverture en invitant des artistes internationaux du programme de Master Fine Art 2017/18 du Chelsea College of Art, à rejoindre la promotion 2018/19 afin développer la philosophie du programme et d’utiliser l’événement comme fondation de notre communauté.
