Over the past few weeks, we've felt overwhelmed with the outpouring of love and support from friends and family all across the world. We are so grateful and humbled by everyone's generosity and kindness.

Our mother, Lita Albuquerque, lost her entire studio, filled with a lifetime of artwork, drawings, writings, materials, and so much more, including her journals bound for the Smithsonian. Since the early 1970s, she has created an expansive body of work, ranging from sculpture, poetry, painting, and multi-media performance to site-specific ephemeral projects in remote locations around the globe. We are all in such shock and disbelief that her studio and her entire archive from 1971 was lost.

The Woolsey Fire raced up the canyon on the morning of Friday, November 9th, leaving my 8-month pregnant sister, the only one home, less than an hour to get out in time. With only the clothes on her back and the family dog, she jumped in the car and hurried down the canyon. Within the next hour, the fire blazed through the entire property, completely wiping out 30 years of our family's history.

Our home acted as a refuge for anyone who needed shelter. Now, our home and all those memories inside are completely and utterly burned, like every house in our neighborhood. This fire is the worst in Los Angeles County history and the city is in deep mourning.

The grief has been at times unbearable. We know that we cannot replace the 30 years of memories, but as our mother's children,  we want to do everything to support her as she goes through this incredibly challenging transition.

We love her so immensely and can’t wait for her to handle her pigments again and create her cosmic work!

All donations will be used to help rebuild my mother's studio and replace items lost in the fire. This is so vital to my mother's healing and creative reemergence.

This was my mother's library before...it housed an incredible collection of books on art, religion, and philosophy, curated over decades.

Some of you may know my mother from the mural on the 101:

Any donations to help rebuild would be appreciated beyond belief.

Your help at this moment can help her get back on the road to rebuilding her studio
and her next body of work and continue her creative reemergence as an artist.

With the warmest love and appreciation,
The Albuquerque/Peck Children
