Bring Woody Hayes Home
Wayne Woodrow Hayes is synonymous with Ohio State football.
Newcomerstown – a small village of 3,800 people located about an hour northeast of Columbus – shaped the man that would go on to become the winningest coach in Ohio State's rich history.
There's only one problem: Newcomerstown lacks a Woody Hayes statue.
Your friends at Eleven Warriors have teamed up with the Newcomerstown Historical Society to pay it forward and put a statue of Hayes in his hometown.
Joining us is in making this a reality is sculptor Alan Cottrill – the master behind the iconic Hayes statue at Ohio State's football training complex.
Now, we need your help.
Our goal is to raise $40,000 to erect a life-size statue of Woody at the Newcomerstown Historical Society.
This is where you come in, Buckeye Nation.
While we will accept and appreciate any donation, we've created the following tiers to make things easy.
$100: You earn your spot in history with your name on the list of donors on elevenwarriors.com.
$500: Your name, family name, or business name (max 30 characters) will go on the plaque next to the Hayes statue.
$1,000: Your name, family name, or business name (max 30 characters) will appear in a larger font a little further up the plaque next to the Hayes statue.
$5,000: Your name, family name, or business name (max 30 characters) will appear in the largest font size near the top of the plaque next to the Hayes statue.
$10,000: The logo of your business will appear near the top of the plaque next to the Hayes statue.
Regardless of what you're able to contribute, we at Eleven Warriors offer our sincerest appreciation for your consideration and generosity.
But we have one more favor to ask of you. Please share this page with every Ohio State fan you know.
FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
Can I give anonymously?
Yes. When donating, you may hide your name from the general public.
What happens if you raise more than $40,000?
Any funds raised above the goal of $40,000 will be donated to the Newcomerstown Historical Society to help with operations, exhibits and more.
What happens if you don't hit your goal?
We plan to allow for as much time as it takes to achieve our goal, so we don't have a fixed deadline. However, if for any reason we're unable to achieve our goal, we will turn over 100% of the proceeds to the Newcomerstown Historical Society.
When do you hope to have the statue erected?
Our goal is to get the first $20,000 to Mr. Cottrill by February 1, 2017. This will ensure the project is started on time to deliver the statue later in the year.
Will there be a dedication ceremony?
Absolutely. All donors will be invited to the event and we will have a grand old time toasting Woody in his hometown.
