Sanctuary Owners Injured in bombing.
On Monday night Jenny (19) and her cousin Jodie (13) attended the Ariana Grande concert in Manchester. Their aunties, Josie and Janet were waiting in the foyer to collect them when there was a terrorist bomb detonated. Jenny and Jodie escaped unharmed however Josie and Janet were caught in the blast and are currently in hospital with serious injuries.
The whole family and all the volunteers are devastated and traumatised by the events but we all want to keep the sanctuary open and the donkeys well being is our main priority.
I am a volunteer at the sanctuary and have set up this page on behalf of the sanctuary to raise funds to cover running costs whilst the family recover. We don't want them to have to be worrying about fundraising during this extremely difficult and emotional time.
I am very close to the family and can assure you that the money is going directly to their bank account and will be spent on animal feed, bedding and vets bills.
Please donate if you can to help this wonderful family and their donkeys.
Jenny on amazing humans:
We are so overwhelmed by the kindness that has been shown by our supporters and strangers. We would like to thank you all.
The money being raised so far is being used to keep the sanctuary running and the overhead costs. This averages at £2,500 per week.
Josie is going to be in hospital for at least another month, so therefore we do need to keep fundraising to keep the sanctuary safe.
We are also doing other fundraising ideas such as a raffle and if anyone would like to hold their own fundraisers please let us know, we are so grateful for all your supports.
Lots of love,
Wonkey donkey ❤️
Jackie and Jenny remain
At hospital with Josie, who despite a massive show of strength, courage and determination has a complicated progress which now includes a blood clot.
She is doing very well but it is taking its toll and she needs her family with her.
Therefore we will not be able to reopen tomorrow as we had planned and it is thanks to your support, kindness and understanding that we are able to do this.
Please bear with us if you have recently adopted a donkey or are due a renewal we will get these sorted as soon as we are able to.
If you have booked a party we are still trying to run these with a team at home and rest assured that the donkeys are been very well cared for and are all fit and well.
When we reopen we are planning a huge open day and will keep you all posted on this.
Yours sincerely and eternally gratefully

Thank you so much to all who've donated, we are completely overwhelmed by the generosity and kindness everyone has shown to us at this difficult time. Josie has now undergone four procedures and may have to undergo more. She is still suffering greatly from the deep shrapnel wounds to her leg and will be in hospital for at least a few more weeks. Despite the pain she is in, Josie is as usual being very brave and is refusing to let this get her down.
I have increased the target due to the family needing to take extra time away to be at the hospital with Josie. We still have so much to do at the sanctuary even when we're closed and desperately need the funds.
Please keep an eye on our facebook page for updates on Josie and our re-opening. Once again thank you so much for your support.
