Womxn's March Seattle 2019

$24,348 of $50,000 goal

Raised by 482 people in 7 months
Created December 10, 2018
The March Anniversary weekend is almost here! We're 4 days out and a little over 40% of our goal. Thank you to our 403 backers and everyone who shared the campaign for believing in us and getting us this far.

We are committed to organizing a safe and inclusive March and Day of Action for everyone, and that means ensuring communication access is provided. Getting closer to our goal helps us make more accessibility services, including ASL interpretation and CART services available on the Day of Action. Your donations also help us provide better AV at the rally and cover incidentals for event speakers, panelists, healers, facilitators, and trainers. In these last days before the march, please help us by sharing this campaign with your friends, family, and network.

The march route and schedule for January 19 is available on our website; find info on the early start time, getting to the rally, and the map of the various events happening on Saturday.  Don't forget to RSVP on Facebook or Eventbrite!

WHY WE MARCH

We are marching because despite some recent victories, there is still so much work to be done. Children are dying at our borders. Reproductive rights are vanishing. Opportunity for success is being denied to entire swaths of our population. We can’t be quiet now.

We are organizing the 2019 rally and march to honor the unity principles and lift up voices that aren’t commonly heard. And we are organizing a day of action to help the growing population of people looking for ways to be involved deepen their commitment to the movement, and connect with others who are looking to take significant action to improve their lives and the lives of others.

THE ORGANIZERS OF SEATTLE'S WOMXN'S MARCH and DAY OF ACTION

This year, both the March and the Day of Action are being organized by Seattle Womxn Marching Forward, a grassroots group comprised of womxn who organized the 2017 Womxn’s March on Seattle. We are committed to upending the white supremacist patriarchal structures, attitudes, and institutions that continue to negatively impact womxn and their families locally and nationally.  Learn more about the team here .

WHY YOUR DONATION MATTERS

Both the march and day of action have basic requirements to make sure the events are accessible and safe. Funds donated to Seattle Womxn Marching Forward will go towards:

- Permitting and insurance
- AV requirements for the rally
- Sanitation, and safety needs like barricades
- HUB space locations rentals
- Accessibility services including ASL and CART on Day of Action
- Incidentals for event speakers, panelists, healers, facilitators, and trainers

We are raising funds through our fiscal sponsor, Reel Grrls Inc .  5% of all donations given to the Womxn's March on Seattle will benefit Reel Grrls.

To our dear, dear marchers,

For six months, this organizing team has been working hard to create a weekend that honors and upholds the best and most powerful principles of the Womxn's March movement. We have listened and learned, planned and collaborated, built and coordinated. Tomorrow, we remind the world that womxn united are a force to be reckoned with. Tomorrow we march.

At just over 44% covered, we are confident in the safety and logistics of our events, but now that we are in the home stretch, we need all the help we can get.

We still need more accessibility services, including ASL interpreters for our Day of Action, better AV at the rally, and incidentals for event speakers, panelists, healers, facilitators, and trainers.

This year, in partnership with Food Lifeline and Seattle Indivisible, we're aiming to collect two tons of food donations! Please bring your donations to one of our Hub locations on January 20.

We are marching forward! Thanks to our amazing community, we've met our minimum and we are marching forward on January 19! We are grateful for your support and we can't wait to organize the Womxn's March and weekend of action you deserve!

The minimum we raised will help cover basic operational and logistical requirements including: permitting, insurance, safety, minimum sanitation requirements and HUB rentals. Marches are expensive, so we've made cuts where possible to ensure that we can organize a safe and successful weekend, even if we don't meet our total. And getting closer to our total goal allows us to cover more than just the basics. Every donation helps us provide more portable toilets throughout the march route, better AV so everyone can hear our speakers at the rally, and more accessibility services including ASL and CART on Day of Action. Your donations also allow us to cover incidentals for event speakers, panelists, healers, facilitators, and trainers.

Today we are at 34% of our total goal, and with donation matching we can potentially double it. Many corporations match employee donations (or the tax deductible component of your membership) to our organization. If you volunteer with us, your employer may also provide us with a grant as a way to recognize your ongoing support.

Hey folks!

First of all THANK YOU so much for helping us get this far, we’ve been fundraising in various capacities and we’ve a little over 13% of our goal so far!

It’s time for some real talk though…Marches cost money. When we organized the 2017 Womxn’s March on Seattle, we raised more than $50,000, which allowed us to secure everything we needed to keep you safe, comfortable and totally inspired.

Now we are having the tough talks about what we can cut—porta-potties, safety barricades, and audio/visual equipment, for example—but the fact is that at some point, if we can’t raise enough money, we’re going to have to cancel. We’ve made the decision that if we can’t reach $15,000 by Friday, January 11, we will not go ahead with the march.

Please donate as you are able, but also pass this note on to your friends, your family, and your fellow marchers. We want to organize the march that our community desires and deserves: a safe, inclusive, meaningful, and well-managed event, and we can’t do it without you.

Here’s how to contribute:

- Donate to our campaign
- Share our Mobile Giving Code: Text SEATTLE to 44-321 to donate
-Buy your new favorite T-shirt on our website!
