Women of Beverly Project - BAC Show

Donation protected

The Women of Beverly (WOB) project started as a personal project in which I donated my time to showcase outstanding women in our community that usually don't get the attention they deserve. What started out as 5-6 women has turned in 35 inspirational women including teachers, therapists,  police officers, navy and army officers, nurses, and all different types of working professionals. The Beverly Arts Center will be showcasing this project in Fall 2016, and because of the nature of the project,  I knew I had to reach out to the community and try to raise money for it.

The Beverly Review wrote a great article about this project, you can read it here

This initial "fun" project  slowly evolved into a more intricate and involved project. My original goal was to  showcase outstanding women in our community and highlight the things that they do that make them stand out. The initial project was  intended to be small and include 5-6 women however, when I started asking for nominations of other women, the project expanded to include 35 women.

Soon after this, the Beverly Arts Center approached me about having the images displayed as part of the Beverly Art Walk. I was flattered by this, but I knew that if I wanted to do this the right way there would eventually be finances involved. Since this was a personal project,  that I was doing  in between shooting weddings  to keep my 'creatve juicies' flowing, there was no cost to any of the partcipants to have their miages taken.  I knew then when it came time to showcase all the work, I would have to  reach out to the community and try to raise money for it.

The funds will be used exclusively to print,  and frame the images. These images will be printed in stretched canvas wraps in sizes up to 18x24. I want people to see the images and feel how empowering these women are and how much people in the community admire them.

It's also my wish for this project to inspire the younger generation of women (i have 3 girls of my own) and for them to realize that they are not limited for what they can do and achieve in life. Hopfeully, they will have these wonderful women as an example that they can be whoever they want to be if they just put their minds to it.

Thank you for taking the time to read this and hope you can contribute to this project. It will be an honor to have it displayed at the BAC and to have the community come and view it.
