In 2018, Cox Automotive Australia launched the Women With Drive (WWD) program. WWD originated in Atlanta in 2015 and exists to celebrate the work of women in the automotive industry.
To kick off 2019 we have big news! Eleven of our female Cox Automotive Australia team members will be setting off to NZ to take on our first ‘WWD Challenge.’
Our WWD Challenge has been established to provide a platform for our team members to challenge themselves physically and mentally in a supportive environment, whilst raising money for charity. Activities will include mountain biking, trail hiking, helicopter rides, kayaking, jet boating and icy plunges into alpine lakes. Participants are also confronted with mystery tasks to test the boundaries of both mind and body.
The charity the NZ Challengers chose was UN Women, a global champion for women and girls as they promote women empowerment and gender equality. This group was established to accelerate progress to meet the needs of all women and girls worldwide.
Priorities for UN Women include:
· Expanding women’s leadership and participation
· Ending violence against women by enabling states to set up the mechanisms needed to formulate and enforce appropriate laws and services
· Enhancing women’s economic empowerment
· Strengthening the implementation of the Women, Peace And Security agenda
· Making gender equality priorities central to national, local and sectoral planning and budgeting.
· Humanitarian Response and Planning
At Cox Automotive Australia we want to empower our women to be leaders in the industry as well as empower other women and girls to do the same, so we are honoured to support this charity as we take on the NZ challenge! So please help us give back!
