Woman attacked with a 6 foot chain left to die

Donation protected
On March 10th, 2019, our beloved family member 58-year-old Sheila Jenkins was assaulted and left for dead after being beaten with a 6-foot chain in Redwood City, CA, at the Capri Motel.

Scott Thompson who is 36 years old allegedly, offered my aunt a cigarette, and she followed him to his room, he began immediately beating her with a 6-foot long metal chain. She was able to call her 79-year-old mother at 4:45 screaming that she had been beaten and was scared she was going to die.

She had never met him before and once she began screaming for help he fled by foot and was captured two blocks away from the Motel covered in blood and admitted he had just beaten a woman, according to prosecutors.

My Aunt was rushed to Stanford Hospital by ambulance and admitted to the Intensive Care Unit with severe injuries including  broken ribs, lacerations so deep to the skull that it took doctors 5 hours to close with staples and stitches, broken wrists, broken fingers, a crack in her spleen, and has undergone two blood transfusions, just to list what we have been told so far. She will also have to under surgery to both her wrist and fingers because they were severely damaged.

Police have surveillance of Mr. Thompson walking around two hours before the incident,  with a metal chain over his shoulder, he now faces 11 years to life, on a charge of attempted premeditated murder according to prosecutors.

A little background about Sheila, she was born and raised in the Bay Area, attended San Carlos High School, and then moved to Maui Hawaii and married.

Sadly her husband left her and she was forced to move back to the Bay Area heartbroken, but happy to be near her aging mother and family. Sheila was not able to afford the high rental housing prices and began staying with family and staying in Motels while looking for a job or finding affordable housing.

She is a free spirit, who loves cats and loves the beach. She can best be described as a gentle soul, who is filled with love and brightens the World with her smile.

We are asking for any amount of donation, we feel blessed to have the chance to see this beautiful woman rise again from such a tragic event, and she will need so much help to get back on her feet, from hospital bills, counseling, rehabilitation, surgeries, and housing possibly in an assisted living facility. And many expenses we probably are not aware of yet.

Her story has made headlines across the Bay Area and was on local news channels and other newspapers including the San Mateo Daily Journal.

These are just a few of the media outlets that we know of, and I assume there are many more articles about the tragic incident in other reporting agencies and they will be continuing as this case continues and my Aunt continues to now heal and she has been transferred to Kaiser.

Thank you for taking the time to read this, we are so grateful for more time with her and to see her rise above this moment and blossom again into the vibrant woman she is. We appreciate all of your support sincerely!
