WMS School STEM Competition Fund

Hello,

This is Mr, Patel, Mr. Herren, and Mr. Rynders from Washington Middle School in El Dorado, AR. We are all STEM and robotics teachers at WMS, which is a title-I school in South Arkansas with about 65% of the students receiving free or reduced lunch. One of our main goals at WMS is to provide students with innovative experiences by taking them to STEM and robotics competitions.

This year, we are taking about six students to an underwater robotics competition at Dauphin Island, AL.  The MATE ROV competition focuses on letting students apply their business, physics, math, electronics, and engineering skills toward one goal.

We are also taking about 30 students to another regional STEM competition, with a focus being more on engineering, construction, and media. Students will compete in the following challenges:

1.      Making an electric car model

2.      Constructing a sturdy bridge model out of glue and            toothpicks

3.      An egg drop vehicle

4.      Paper rollercoasters

5.      Graphic design creation

6.      Media

Taking over 36 students on two separate trips will require significant financial resources. We need the help of our community to support our students and help us provide students with a life-changing experience.

Thank you so much!
