Praying for Patrick

My oldest child, Patrick Heimbach was recently diagnosed with a very rare and aggressive form of cancer called Desmoplastic Small Round Cell Tumor (DSRCT). To date, there have been less than 200 cases reported in medical history. Unfortunately because it is so rare not much is known about how to effectively treat it and there is currently no known cure. It has a 15% five year survival rate. My son just turned 18 in May and was so excited to begin his adult life. We never dreamed the beginning of his adult life would involve him having to fight a very long hard battle just to survive.
He is currently on every prayer list in every church I and the rest of both my family and family members on his father's side are associated with, and every prayer is deeply appreciated.
Given the suddeness of his illness myself and his paternal grandmother have found it necessary to take time off of work and have been taking turns staying with him around the clock at Ruby Memorial Hospital. It is my hope that I will be able to raise money to assist his grandmother and I with the expenses of travel, shelter, food, etc. During this very difficult time. He is being treated very aggressively with two types of chemotherapy, and eventually surgery. Currently he has no medical coverage and the expenses are piling up very rapidly. Due to the positioning of one of his tumors, his right kidney is also no longer functioning except through a nephrotomy tube placed directly through his back and into the kidney to drain it.
Not only do we need help with the daily expenses of staying at the hospital, I fear we will eventually be forced to ask for help with medical expenses unless I am able to get him accepted at St. Jude for further treatment.
Any donation is appreciated and will be used solely for the purposes listed. If treatment is effective, any unused funds will go to enhancing his quality of life and to providing him funds to enjoy activities he may want to do while he is still in good enough health to enjoy them.

This is truly every mother's worst nightmare and I pray a cure can be found in time to prevent any other family from enduring the pain this illness has caused us.
