 STATESVILLE, NC
On the 3rd of October, 2015, we set out for the first competition of the season. Everyone was excited and buzzing around ready to compete, but when we arrived at the competition; tragedy struck our band. An awning at the school collapsed on a group of students underneath. 18 band members were sent to the hospital for various injuries. A couple hours after this happened, we were informed that a lot of our friends had more serious injuries than we had previously thought: one girl had her leg amputated, multiple people had broken feet, legs and pelvises, and a lot of severe head injuries. As one of the lead drum majors of the band, I am asking you to donate to our fund to help pay for the families that are having to stay with their children to cover food, gas, hotel rooms and any salaries lost for taking any unpaid personal days off from work. Some of the funds will also go to a potential prosthetic for our dear friend, and any changes that may have to be made to her home to help her transition. The rest of the money will be put into a fund for a new band trailer dedicated to those hospitalized on October 3rd, 2015.

This band means the world to me. These kids are my life. They make me smile, laugh, cry, beam with joy and pride... What happened was so unexpected and unfair; I want to reverse time to stop it. I can't snap into the reality of what happened; that some of the greatest people in my life are hurt, and I can't change it. But, even though we may have been battered up, we are all alive, and I'm thankful for that. This is my Viking band and I love them so much... Please keep us in your thoughts and prayers tonight, we sure do need it. They fill my life with purpose and I am honored to call them my chosen family ❤

There will be South band students at Wendy's in Troutman today from 1-3pm signing thank you cards. Wendy's has done so much to help the SIHS band, so if you're looking for a place to eat, stop by Wendy's to show your thanks! They have done so much for our community, it's the least we can do.
Thank you!

Tonight is senior night! We are very excited to see the seniors walk during halftime. We have been learning new music to help us heal, and we have continued to pray for our friends that are still at home. Some will not be able to return to school for a long time. We want to thank everyone that has thought and prayed for our band in this really hard time of our lives.
Senior night is full of emotions

As a band parent and president of the band boosters at my son's high school, I imagine this to be any bands' worst nightmare. We spent the weekend at home as our competition was rained out, after spending the weekend before in the rain at Enka. Sharing this on our band boosters Facebook page. Healing thoughts from the Stuart W. Cramer Raging Storm Marching Band.

I'm so sorry that I can't donate, but all my well wishes go to every single member of the band that was injured that day. Even more to the girl who had her leg amputated. May all of your band members recover with no further complications. I know how many students love band, how much those students love to perform. Heck, my profile picture shows how much I love band, the picture being of me fresh out a perfomance at Universal Orlando. But back to the topic at hand, I'm praying for those students and their families who were affected by this tragic event. I'm going to wear white tomorrow to show my fellow band geeks some support.
