Family in need
So I woke up this morning and called Autumn to find out just what we thought. Everything she owned was gone. Not only the material things which I know she doesn't care about but all of Layla's baby pictures along with any sentimental things she had.
Autumn is a single mom to her beautiful 7 year old daughter and she always try's to make the best of every situation. But this is devastating and Autumn is the type who will never ask for help. So I am going to do it for her.
No dollar amount can change what she has lost but it can be a good start to a new home and things Layla will need. If you are unable to give I know she will be so grateful to have people praying for her and the people in Gatlinburg.
This is what's left of there home
On that Monday am as we were headed to school it was already very smoky. When I went to work at 11 I was incomplete shock, it looked like it was 7pm but with an orange tint! They called school out at 12ish. We went home and the house was smelling smoky so I taped off around all the doors and closed the flue. We went and did errands and came back to house around 600. It was definitely smokier inside. A few friends called saying I should leave but I really didn't think we were in that kind of danger! Finally around 7ish I decided we would go bc my daughter said her eyes were burning. So I loaded our 2 dogs and a few other things into the car. It was so windy I told her to look at the ground and cover her eyes. When I finally got in the car, well as I was shutting my door....I saw embers in the driveway. My heart dropped. Then she started screaming and crying and pointed out the top of the hill to the left of us was on fire! I got to the bottom of our hill and the whole mountain was on fire. There's a hotel below our house so I drove over and ran and told them. They said they just saw and just called. My daughter was frantic!
Help Autumn and Layla!!
I have tried to write a thank you letter on here a million times to all of you that have showed so much support. I can't find the words! Just a "thank you" feels like not enough! So I've decided to tell you this....I've cried a lot! When it hits me of an item that I've lost like Layla's baby book, it hurts but with prayers and kind words it eases the sting. When I realize I've lost my favorite shirt, I look up and there's 10 new ones in front of me to find a new favorite shirt!
So with all the sad tears, all of you and my family are replacing them with a thousand more happy ones
To hear Autumn just say I just want to go home and be in my home in hysterics makes my heart ache. Let's continue to pray for them and donate if possible.
I have included a couple pictures that I took while we were on FaceTime.
Hi! I would love to get Layla a new lamb. I live in New Zealand and make soft toys for a living. I have a sheep called Miranda that she might like. She is welcome to chose another toy if she prefers. She can see them on www.gollyfamily.com). Where could I send it to her? Thanks!
I am from Florida and made a trip to Gatlinburg last week with donations. Everything is sorted and ready to go and it's at Douglas Lakeview Riding Stables. We dropped off a 16ft trailer full of items and please go check it out I'd get in touch with the sweet ladies there.
Autumn I am so sorry for the devastating loss of all your sentimental items!! I will send money, prayers, and stuff for Layla your way. What size is she, and where should I ship stuff to? You can text me the info. We love you, and want to help in any way possible!!! Xoxo
I will send my love and prayers. Hopefully, she has insurance and they will replace all that she had. I went through this three years ago and it is really frightening.
Sending you lots of love & prayers xoxo
Thinking of you and Layla Autumn. It must be such a difficult time for you but you are safe and I'm so thankful for that. Take care and keep in touch.
My prayers are with you and all who are going thru this.
From one single mom to another, praying for you .
