This event will be the result of an Animas High School Junior Humanities, "With Justice for All," project. Students chose to design a project around a local issue. After thoughtful brainstorming and listening to community members, students chose Durango's Homelessness issue to learn about.
This event will be held at the Durango Fair Grounds on December 12th from 5:30 to 8:00.
The goal of this event is to change people's perceptions and raise awareness on homelessness in Durango to promote more compassion and understanding.
It will display student work, such as murals, photographs, and films about the impacts of homelessness in Durango. In addition, we will host a food and clothing drive and have community partner organizations in attendance to share resources and information on the work they are doing to address homelessness. The event will culminate in a community meal.
We are looking for donations to cover event costs, student supplies, and additional funds earned will be donated to Manna Soup Kitchen. All donations over $50 will be classified as Event Sponsors. These sponsors will be acknowledged publically throughout the event and their logos will be on the event pamphlet.
