Winnie's Emergency Surgery - Shot

Cruelty and heinous acts do not take holidays off.

When Winnie was brought to ACCT in Philadelphia today she was in immediate need of care. This sweet girl had endured something no living thing should. Winnie had blood covering her front legs, a gapping hole in her left cheek. Winnie had been shot in the face. We do not have details of the shooting as the police are still investigating, but what we did know is Winnie needed our help and needn’t spend one more moment in pain without the emergency medical care her condition required. Our team sprung into action and rushed Winnie to the emergency hospital. There she immediately went into surgery.

It was determined by the doctor that Winnie was shot from above with a shotgun. We are having such a hard time processing what happened to this sweet, innocent girl and are just happy to help get her the care she needs.
At this time, Winnie is still in surgery. The left side of her jaw was destroyed by the bullet. Large pieces of her jaw will need to be removed and the surgeon is currently removing bone fragments from her cheek. Winnie’s teeth were knocked out from the force of the bullet. She is in bad shape, but we are told she is expected to be okay.

Would you believe Winnie wagged her tail at the hospital when she saw the doctor? Her spirit is BEYOND inspiring. We are furious for the pain she has had to endure; but we will remain strong for her through her recovery as she deserves nothing less. We will fight for her. Now, we need your help. Hospital bills are never small and she is expected to need round the clock care for 2 to 3 days. We are committed to Winnie and the life she deserves. Please, help if you can.
