New Start

Gusty winds were noticeable this particular weekend, but no one knew the power of wind would adversely affect the lives of my Aunt and her two grand kids this early Sunday morning.

At around 4am, my Aunt (Bernita) and her two grand kids (Ashkee, age 11 and KeYanna, age 9) were abruptly awoken from there sleep to a real nightmare as they were tossed from their beds to the floor and to the ceiling and back to the floor when a prolonged gust of wind over turned their entire 40 ft. trailer home.  The trailer rolled three times.  In this tumbling affect, beds, chairs, dressers and a TV became blunt projectiles.

In a miracle only imagined in a movie, KeYanna was ejected through the bedroom window to the cold and windy environment outside in her pajamas.  With only minor cuts and bruises, KeYanna walked barefooted through the dessert soundings in the dark to her uncles nearby house.

After awaking her uncle (Irvin), he ran to the trailer.  By then, the trailer was illuminated and engulfed in flames.  During the tumbling of the home, the wood burning stove released its fire and ignited the living room and quickly spread throughout the home in seconds.

Irvin found Ashkee and pulled him from the trailer. He then found my Aunt, who was bleeding profusely from her face and pulled her to safety from the flames.  The home was a complete loss (no home insurance).  Clothes, vital documents, life's necessities were all gone but MOST importantly everyone was saved.

This Gofundme page is established to raise funds to pay medical expenses and to begin a new start for my Aunt and her grand kids in the Albuquerque area.
