Jeremy and Kathleen Willet lose everything to House Fire.

At approximately 1:23pm on Monday, October 30, 2017 a 911 call was placed for a house fire in Westminster, MD. A few minutes earlier the home of Jeremy, Kathleen Willet and their two children had caught fire and later completey burned to the ground. Over 10 different fire departments with approximately 30 pieces of equipment responded to the fire but were unable to save the home or any of its contents.

Thankfully no one was home at the start of the fire and all members of the family, along with their farm animals, are safe. About an hour after the fire began, Jeremy and Kathleen pulled in the driveway to watch the firefighters try to save the remaining buildings and extinguish the fire. Thanks to the hard-working firefighters only their home and summer house were destroyed by the flames.

Jeremy and Kathleen are fourth-generation owners of the farm which has been in the Willet family for over 100 years. From Jeremy: "We are so thankful for the huge amount of love, support and prayers from the community and as a family want to thank everyone who has offered to help already. We are also grateful to all of the brave men and women who responded to the call and helped put out the fire. We were blown away as volunteers literally drove through the fields from all directions to help."

This website will serve as a landing page for all donations which will be given directly to Jeremy and Kathleen as they begin to rebuild their lives for their family of four. At this time, we're estimating around $50,000 in damages that will not be covered by insurance. The only possessions they have are the clothes on their backs and their vehicle. Unfortunately, there are many sentimental items that will never be able to be replaced, but helping them start over to create new memories moving forward is a great place to start.

Anyone who knows Jeremy and Kathleen personally know that they have dedicated their lives to helping others, and we hope that we're able to extend the same love and support to them during this difficult time.

A message from Jeremy:
“The farm has been in our family for many generations,” he said. “We’ve endured many hard times — including tornadoes and the loss of family members, things like that. We will continue to do what we always do, which is to stay close as a family, trust God through it and become stronger on the other side.”

Hello friends,

18 months ago, our lives were turned upside down by the house fire that claimed our home and all our belongings. After a long investigation, it was discovered that the fire was caused by the improper instillation of a wood-insert by a local company. (Although very difficult to do, we sent a letter stating that we forgave them.)

Our insurance company (USAA) has been phenomomal to deal with every step of the way!

But most importantly, in a time when we should have felt very alone, scared, and fearful, we instead felt peace, as the arms of the Church wrapped around us like never before. Our family will be forever grateful for each of you that sacrificially gave money to help sustain our family through the long process before insurance could ever kick in any rebuild costs.

We are happy to share with you that we move into our new home on EASTER WEEKEND! Can you believe it!? Certainly no accident that God would arrange this timing.

We included a photo that one of our friends took with his drone of the foundation being established for our new house. The reason we love this photo so much is because it shows the start of a new beginning. In the picture, you'll see our farm that we have dedicated to use as a place for our community to gather, and you get to see the RV that we've been living in the past 18 months (we called it the "spaceship" to keep a fun perspective, especially around our children.)

When we finally got to a place where we felt we could move forward and rebuild, we took a napkin, and drew a table. We wanted our house to be built around the place where we would gather. A sacred place where we would come together as a family, with our friends, with our neighbors, and with strangers. We took this concept to a Father and his 2 sons that are contractors in our town, and they have been working diligently the past year to build us a new home. Then, we called a musician friend of ours who builds custom farm tables, and asked him to build one for the new house. We can't wait to gather around this table with you soon!

Our prayer is that this house will be used as a place of rest and of peace where everyone feels welcomed, just as they are. "Our" new house is YOUR new house, and we hope you'll come visit soon.
