I'm a state and federally licensed Wildlife Rehabilitator, I rehabilitate mammals and birds, taking in injured and orphaned Wildlife and release them back into nature.
My husband and I bought a house a year ago with the understanding that we were allowed to rehabilitate wildlife at our location. Recently we were told that is not the case and we need to stop what we are doing. We both agree that we need to continue helping these animals and decided we will move again to make that possible. Being a rehabber is self funded and thru donations, we are not rich but just a normal everyday couple. Due to last years move and the amount of animals we took in this year ( around 600 animals so far) our savings are depleted. We found the perfect place to continue our life saving work, it is 4.22 acres with 5 outdoor buildings, a pasture and other cages already in place. We also contacted the city to ensure that zoning would not be an issue again and have it in writing that we can rehabilitate wildlife on the proberty, The cost of the proberty is 106,000 and all that stands between us and continuing our work. So here is my plea if we can just reach 106,000 people and everyone gave a dollar these animals will continue to have a sanctuary to grow and recover. The state of Indiana has not enough rehabilitators as it is and even fewer that are federally licensed for birds. If I was not able to continue it would be a hardship on all the animals and other rehabilitators.
I do this on a full time basis taking care of animals 24hr a day, an no matter what time people call I will answer my phone, I don't take holidays or vacations. I'm a beacon of hope for people and animals alike when they don't know where to turn for help. Please help me continue to shine my light of hope and help to save lifes and make this world a better place.
