Wil Ohler's Fight With Leukemia
Donation protected
In May of 2017, Wil was diagnosed with T-Cell Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia. The treatments, while brutal, seemed to be helping and life was becoming a "new normal" (there is no real "normal" when dealing with T-Cell Leukemia). Wil was getting seemingly stronger, and even though he was still going through chemo treatments and struggling with debilitating side effects, he had started playing soccer for the Lindbergh Varsity team again. There was that glimmer of hope and a little light at the end of the tunnel.
However, this past September the family was struck by another serious blow. Wil had relapsed and developed cancer in his eye which would require immediate radiation and new chemotherapies. Even worse, the family found out that he would need a bone marrow transplant along with the new regiment of chemos, full cranial radiation, spinal radiation, and full body eradication to prepare him for the transplant.
Please consider helping us take some of the financial burdens off of the Ohler family so that they can focus all of their attention on helping Wil fight this horrible disease. Between hospital stays, tests, specialists, treatments, supplies, and travel expenses, they could really use our support.
*As of this writing, Wil still hasn't found a 10/10 bone marrow match. The doctors have decided to proceed with a half match (5/10) from his sister.
*The community has come together strong and bone marrow donation events have become increasingly regular in the "Wil's Warriors" crowd.
Please check the Wil's Facebook page for a list of donation events or visit Wil's DKMS Virtual Donor Drive to request a swab kit so you can be tested as a potential match for Wil or another person who desperately needs this life-saving procedure.
