Hi everyone! I'm hoping I gave you and yours many laughs over the years with my work in film, television, and theatre. http://www.imdb.com/videoplayer/vi3333533209 . That's me in the photo playing eccentric fashion designer Aubrey Allure in the hit film WHITE CHICKS which I'm usually recognized for (in fact, nurses on the surgical table today Jan 16th all got excited when I told them where they recognized me from...LOL!)
This is really hard for me but, at the moment, I can't think of an alternative. I'm tearing up here wondering if I may be lucky enough to have some guardian angels out there right now.
I've recently found myself in dire straits financially and could really benefit from your kind assistance. I was hit twice with two unfortunate medical occurrences that I've had to pay out of pocket on:
- October 1st, 2017 right eye retinal detachment & emergency surgery. (see below)
- September 23rd, 2017 tooth root canal & crown required. ($1985.32)
Presently, I'm living on $14/day disability payments ($102.11 week / $408 month) and unable to work with my surgeon saying I won't be allowed to return until at least July 2018 (third surgery in April will now be necessary after second January 16th). I'm great at managing my pennies (literally) after 38 years as an actor. At this moment, however, the waves are just about to go over my head and I'm desperate trying to keep a roof over my head and food on the table.
I'm fortunate to have had hospital Charity Care cover my astronomical eye surgical bills (October 2017, January 2018, ). Unfortunately, I do not have medical or dental insurance (I'm "categorically ineligible" being a permanent resident under five years in the United States right now). The cost of out of pocket variety of prescriptions required daily (eye drops alone are $50 per tiny bottle!) along with the pending dental bill of $2,000 has put me into a spiral financially. Before it adversely affects the excellent credit rating I've worked so hard to get since moving to the United States in 2015 from Canada, I'm reaching out for your help.
Absolutely cannot wait to get back to auditioning and booking those brilliant roles that keep you & yours entertained and excited. Both my manager and agents are chomping at the bit to have me healthy and ready to go as soon as possible. Any little bit helps so much and I cannot thank you enough in advance for your kind consideration. Here's to a fabulous 2018 to us all!
