What Is Love? LGBT+ Documentary

Donation protected

What Is Love? is a documentary series showcasing the Australian LGBTQIA+ community.  What was originally meant to be a casual series made amongst friends has turned into a national production growing in scale by the day. We are eager to accommodate the enormous response and involve all of those wanting to help and get their story out there, but the cost far outweighs what was originally expected and cannot be funded appropriately on our own. Asking for money was never part of the plan but we want this to be done right, and the best it can be, but in order to do that we need financial aid.

We are aiming to raise $3000. This will cover travel costs to date, future travel costs, basic expenses of participants and crew members, equipment hire, and post-production elements. But the majority of funding will be funnelled into editing the enormity of what this project is becoming.

Here’s a taste of what we’ve done so far!

There are many goals attached to this project, the broadest being getting closer to equal rights in Australia. Also because the current government is so riddled with homophobia, especially with the riddance of the safe-schools programme, I'd like something out there accessible to all on YouTube for educational means to combat the ignorance and let others in similar situations know that they are not alone.

The structure and title questions of the episodes will chop and change depending on our final content, but our interviews are currently focused around these topics:
How do I know I’m not straight?
How do I know I’m transgender?
How do I know I’m gender non-binary?
How can I be a drag queen?
Can I be LGBT+ and religious?
Can I be LGBT+ and have a family?
How do I come out to my family?
How do I cope with homophobia?

On behalf of our little team, we’d like to thank everyone who has been involved to date for their tremendous support and for your generosity and interest in the project.

With your contributions we will do our very best to shed light and spread love, and give the LGBTQIA+ community in Australia the biggest push possible towards equality.
