------------------------------------

I have a great friend named Greg Powell.  He's a passionate, creative and extremely nice guy with a wonderful family.  When my wife and I found ourselves in his neck of the woods, they sacrificed their day to be our tour guides through Washington DC.

His older son Clayton is a sports superstar.  He's also one of the greatest big brothers I've ever seen.  He has no shortage of love and a willingness to help his little brother Carson enjoy the things that all the other kids are enjoying.

Greg's wife Kelly is a supermom.  She's a teacher and does all of the things that a supermom does.  Added to that is all the tasks that come with helping Carson acheive all he does while overcoming physical disability.
Not to mention dealing with that big kid, Greg.  Can you imagine?!

The baby of the family is Carson was born with cerebral palsy.  This tough and fun kid has had more surgeries and medical treatment in his 12 years than most people endure in their entire lives.  His strength and determination has helped him do things that most of us take for granted.

Yesterday, Greg shared the news that Kelly and Carson were in a terrible car accident.  Greg has been providing us with periodic updates:

I'm very scared for my friend and his family right now.  I'm also very hopeful and confident that they will find themselves on the road to recovery sooner than later, but it won't be easy.  The last thing that I want them to worry about is money.

I did not start this fundraiser at anyone's request, but I do have Greg's permission.  If you have the means and would like to help, this is the way.  Kind words and thoughts are very nice, but unfortunately, money is needed.  I have kids and they empty my wallet, so I can't imagine making it work while dealing with what this family has dealt with up to now.  I dread the thought of how it will be compounded with this new family tragedy.

The great thing about social media is that we can come together and make friends from all over the world.  The downside is that because we are all over the world, we can't literally 'be there' for our friends in times of need.  This is our way of 'being there' for our friend in Gainesville, Virginia in the United States of America.

Love to Greg, Kelly, Clayton, and Carson.  Get well soon, please.

Please note that because I'm Canadian and not entirely bright, I set this campaign up in Canadian currency. This means that whatever dollar amount you donate will be less in American currency. An American donating $20 will only be giving approximately $16 USD. Feel free to adjust your donation, or not, as you wish.
