Food is a Stepping Stone to Hope – You Can Help With the First Step

The  volunteers of Mother Marianne’s West Side Kitchen open their arms daily to the poor, homeless and lonely. They provide hot meals, bag lunches,  and a warm, welcoming environment.

Our clients range in age from two to ninety-two. We embrace all who are hungry, offering them the first step to hope.

Our donors continue to keep Mother Marianne's Westside Kitchen doors open. We receive funds, foods, volunteer hours daily, but the numbers of clients that we serve are growing. We presently serve anywhere from 70 to 125 clients per day – from 2400 to 3000 per month.

YOU are the reason why Mother Marianne’s West Side Kitchen has been able to feed the hungry since 2008. And YOU are the reason why we will be able to continue to serve.

Our goal is $44,400. It will fund: operational expenses -- food, supplies, equipment, maintenance and a partial stipend for a part-time kitchen director.

Your $50 donation could bring in one-hundred dollars worth of food.

Your tax-deductible gift to this Go Fund Me Campaign will ensure that our soup kitchen will be able feed our hungry neighbors today and tomorrow. Please give now.
Mother Marianne's Westside Kitchen is associated with St. Joseph/St. Patrick’s Church in Utica, NY, the parish which is home to Utica’s first and only saint, St. Marianne Cope, who spent the last 30 years of her life taking care of the lepers in Hawaii.

Mother Marianne's Westside Kitchen Mission: Inspired by the Gospel of Jesus and the example of Franciscan Saint Marianne Cope, Mother Marianne’s West Side Kitchen of St. Joseph - St. Patrick Church provides food, fellowship and a welcoming environment to all.

Mother Marianne’s West Side Kitchen is faced with a challenge. Yes, of course, we are challenged to have enough food for over 100 guests we serve every day – 4500 to 5000 meals a month. But, we are excited to inform you that we also have received a challenge grant from M&T Bank/Partner’s Trust Bank Charitable Fund of The Community Foundation. They will match, dollar for dollar, up to $11,423. We have until April 1 to meet this goal. All funds will be used to upgrade the Soup Kitchen and to get the equipment necessary to keep it clean and sanitary.

We are slowly on our way to our goal but we need more help to ensure that we receive enough money. It will mean that we will be able to update our dining room facility – an update that is sorely needed to ensure safety, cleanliness and comfort for our guests – the elderly, young families, children, unemployed and homeless.

Can you help us? Tax-deductible gifts can be sent to: Mother Marianne’s West Side Kitchen, St. Joseph-St. Patrick Church, 702 Columbia St, Utica, NY 13502; or you go to the Go Fund Me page:

We would appreciate whatever you can do. And know, that each and every day some special guest will come to our soup kitchen and will be blessed with wholesome food, a joyful welcome, a warm place to enjoy that food, and some camaraderie. They’ll find a safe, sanitary, warm, comfortable space you helped create.

We thank you in advance and invite you to stop by and visit with our guests and volunteers in our soup kitchen. We serve every day from 11:30 a.m. -12:30 p.m.

Join us in helping those less fortunate.

May God bless you and give you His peace!

Summer months are very difficult for many people in our community. The Mother Marianne WestSide Kitchen serves many more children during the summer since they are not in school. In the meantime, this is also a time when donations of food and support drop because many people are on vacation. I ask you to consider making a donation today to the Mother Marianne WestSide Kitchen GoFund Me Campaign. Thank you for your help and please share this message and the link with all your friends and associates -- together we can feed a child, a family. Peace and All Good! Mary

Our campaign has just begun and our kind donors have begun to invest in Mother Marianne's Westside Kitchen. Thus far, we have raised $450. We have a long way to go and many brothers and sisters in this community to feed this year. This February, we provided over 2000 meals to our hungry neighbors.

If you have already donated your tax-deductible gift, please share our request with friends and neighbors on Facebook, Twitter and your e-mail list.
