WENations 2016 Travel Seminar

Women Empowering Nations  (WEN) is a 501 (c) 3 non-profit organization dedicated to the advancement of girls through self-esteem development and leadership programs. Through our signature Girls Leading Our World program, girls participate in year long sessions to build self-esteem, leadership skills, and global awareness. In combining these three elements, young women will be equipped to become socially conscious leaders in any career path with an interest in contributing to the development of others.

WEN is unique in its work with self-esteem development of girls as we connect young women of African descent to build relationships beyond borders, enhance appreciation for their culture, defy stereotypes, and cultivate synergy to build paths for community development. This opportunity develops the global experience for our American girls as many come from urban communities without resources readily available for travel abroad. It also builds the network of all the young women to pursue global partnerships in their pursuit of servant leadership.

The 2016 WENations Travel Seminar will be held in Amsterdam, The Netherlands and Mwanza, Tanzania from July 13 through July 23, 2016. The Girls Leading Our World Leadership conference will be held in partnership with the local orphanage and school Janada L. Batchelor Foundation for Children (JBCF), which provides refugee for abused and abandoned girls with quality primary and secondary education. This conference will bring Tanzanian and American female teenage leaders together for an engaging week to explore social change, economic justice, women’s empowerment, and leadership.

The young ladies will also visit the World Court, Anne Frank House, and many other historic sites in The Netherlands expanding their world view.  On this journey they will hear from a host of inspiring women leaders and build relationships beyond borders.

Women Empowering Nations is taking 20 young women from Tulsa, Oklahoma, Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, and Houston, Texas on this life changing experience. Our fundraising campaign concludes on May 1, 2016. We appreciate your support of our girls!
