THE STORY
This campaign is for those friends of Troy/ New York artist Jason Martin who are unable to make it to the PARTY in real life on November 14 but still want to raise funds and celebrate healing and love and magic!
Two weeks ago Jason was brutally beaten by a group of at least 5 men on 4th Street in Troy, just around the corner from his house.
Jason was walking home alone from Labeau's corner store at 4th and Canal when he was asked by a man for a cigarette. Before he could answer, he was assaulted by at least 4 others from behind and quickly lost consciousness. The attackers fled and Jason was left bleeding on the bridge over the canal. Thankfully, good samaritans carried him into the store and the owners called the police. An investigation is ongoing, and there are a couple leads. There is no clear motive, and certainly no way to make sense of the brutality of the beating. All they got from his pockets was 15 bucks.
THE PROGNOSIS
Jason had reconstructive surgery to repair fractures and breaks in his jaw, cheekbones and ocular cavity. He now has some shiny titanium plates in his head and is more space age than ever.
In short, Jason is going to recover 100% and have the exact same face as before the attack. Thank all of our lucky stars that it wasn't even the tiniest bit worse.
THE PARTY
We are putting together an event - let's call it a PARTY - to raise funds for Jason and celebrate the awesome person we all came too close to losing to senseless violence.
