wellness bags is a collective with the intention to get food, basic supplies, and monthly feminine hygiene products to those in need, but we need your help!

things we need donated/purchased:
monthly hygiene products - tampons (unscented), pads, and baby wipes
food items - individually wrapped (not expired)
bottles of water
shirts - adult sizes (small and up)
winter gear - thermal socks, winter coats, sleeping bags, tents, etc

what happens when you're hungry and there's no money to eat?
what happens when it's that time of the month but you're living on the street?

change takes sense/cents
everything helps
if you can not donate monetarily
donate shirts
if you have no shirts
donate love
if you're running on empty
reach out to us we've got some for you
and if nothing else
share this so we can reach people to help bridge the gap to those who don't have enough

someone you know may need help.
someone you don't, definitely does.

from our heart to yours,
THANK YOU.

sometimes the world surprises you. sometimes so many things are happening at once, there's no possible way you can be aware of it all. sometimes you need to stop, take a breath, and focus on what you can impact.
maybe if we took better care of things we already have, we might not be so focused on things we are missing.
declutter your mind first - write your own mantras and chant them. be so good to yourself, you don't need to fill the holes with material things. no matter how good it feels, i promise they are temporary fixes.
i am easily overwhelmed when i think of all the outside forces working against me - most of the time i know i am defeated and i should go stand in line - but there's this pull inside of me, and there is for sure a need that i see. so i won't. i won't keep quiet and pretend like this doesn't hurt - i am hurting. there are people living on the street and a majority of society think they deserve it, and that should hurt. "free bleed" is a movement, but it is some women's way of life because they have no choice, and this should hurt. let's not mention the empty bellies - and nursing mothers. this should hurt. so i won't stop. and i am thankful and grateful that the people around me won't either. they have pushed and reminded me what we can do with the little that we have, and if we have anything left over - to find someone who needs it.
so to Range, thank you for this amazing donation of $260 - this will bring warm meals and feminine hygiene directly to those who need them. (along with this, blankets, bags of clothes and multiple boxes of pads were collected by Range and donated to wellness bags.)
there are some people out there who really get it, and i know all of you reading this get it too. i can't thank you enough for being the divine gods that you are.
i know most of us are just trying to make it - telling yourself that you can is half way there.
support local. eat in season. donate something. i promise you your heart will thank you, and in return so will the earth.

the community night at Range is tomorrow and i've got to admit, this experience has been quite humbling. to know there are people out there helping wellness bags without knowing me personally really speaks to me. i can't thank you enough for your constant contributions. and yes, thoughts count.
this thursday (1/26 from 4-9pm) myself and a few of my favorites will be gathering at Range to eat well and enjoy each other's company. come with love. come with an open mind and an empty belly. or just come for a hug.

good afternoon you beautiful souls. i hope you are all keeping warm this chilly day. i also hope you are breathing some relief with this new year. 2016 was heavy for most of us, maybe less for those who travel in packs - there's something to say about being a part of a community, especially through the hard times.

here's a gentle reminder to look out for those around you. maybe today has brought you wealth and happiness, how happy i am you are blessed. how pleasing it would be if you shared. share your smile, or story. share a hug, or a few words. hold the door for someone, say thank you even if you don't have to, because damn, be thankful. be open when everything is telling you to run. admire the road less traveled - pull-up your bootstraps and start walking along side someone, because you might need them as much as they need you right now.

i have nothing but love for you. i truly wish that was enough. (too much is never enough.)

but until it is, there's this:
https://www.facebook.com/events/https://www.facebook.com/events/587266884796544/??ti=ia

this is a community night running and created by Range in Chicago. this is a gift, i did not ask for this offering, nor did i really know the wonders of collabing with restaurants - but here we are, with this opportunity! Range is collecting items that are so desperately needed through the winter. and with the closing of many Chicago Shelters our efforts are needed more than ever! please stop by Range to drop off any slightly used (or new) winter coats/tents/sleeping bags/feminine hygiene supplies/non-perishable foods/etc. and stick around and treat yourself to a farm-to-table meal like they should be. my momma always said 'self care starts at home', she also said that 'food is the best medicine' - no one is asking you to not spend money or to deprive yourself so others can have, we're just asking that we stop and look around us and see who we're really impacting.

i'll be at Range on the 26th, celebrating you and us and all the beautiful things life has to offer. spread love and light and leave the rest where you find it.

12 coats were just donated to Esmeralda Santiago Charter School in Chicago because of you. that's 12 more little bodies that will learn that the community has got their back. (see what i did there.) that's 12 more parent's hearts that won't have to break watching their child leave for school. i hope that's 12 more little bodies who hold their head up a little higher.
maybe we don't see it enough, maybe we feel safe in our bubbles of comfort, maybe we have extra money each month to heat our apartment, maybe it's easier to throw something away then donating it, maybe we need to wake each other up. maybe we need to look at the world around us and actively change it. be your own revolution. change and better one person's day today. and tomorrow. and every day. and i hope, with all my heart, today someone betters your day, so we can start this.
