WE ARE HERE FOR LIAM
Our family just received the most heartbreaking news that our precious Liam (my nephew/oldest grandchild) who is only 3 years old, has malignant glioma diffuse intrinsic pontine glioma (a brain tumour), and his diagnosis is not good. We are shattered.
My sister Cari and Mike need to leave to Children’s Hospital in Vancouver for six weeks to be with Liam. Cari will also need to care for baby Brody who is only 5 months old. We need your help.
Please consider supporting my sister. There is no amount too small. We believe in miracles and know that love conquers all things and knowing you are with us in prayer and in spirit will bring some peace through this process. Thank you in advance for your support.
Respectfully, Lindsay Walper.
The only problem with treating a child with radiation to destroy or damage cancer cells is that it also destroys healthy cells. It can also result in a number ofextremely unpleasant side effects such as nausea and inflammation, which physicians treat with steroids. Steroids then cause their own wealth of side effects such as weight gain, mood changes, and a ravenous appetite.
All to buy additional months. Not years. Months.
GO HOME AND LOVE YOUR CHILD
No, really. That’s the last option.
Can you imagine walking into a hospital to get your child checked out for concerning symptoms, learning he or she has an inoperable brain tumor, and then being told “your guess is as good as mine” by the medical staff?
That’s essentially what happened to my sister and her husband. Doctors know so little about this disease that the parents are in charge of treatment. The parents decide the path to take because there is no path to take.
Parents can fill their child with drugs and radiation with the hope of squeezing out a few months of quality life or choose to take their child home and watch them deteriorate bit by bit.
What would you do?
Today Mike, my sister and Liam visited the hospital for his weekly check ups...My sister shared with me last night that Liam isn't doing as good as he was. Our hearts are breaking watching him decline
The hospital staff noticed the change as well, they are attempting to move his MRI to this week hopefully to find out if there are any changes in his tumour. It is hard to say that word. How does my 3 year old nephew have a tumour? A killer tumour. My eyes are filled with tears, I can barely see the screen clearly, my heart is being ripped out of my chest. Brody suffers as well, Mike and Cari are dealing with their emotions, decreased energy due to exhaustion and not being able to do normal things like swimming or any activity where other kids are - including day programs and no daycare as they don't want him bringing home sickness as Liam's immune system is compromised
We need your prayers, today, tomorrow and always. Please pray for Liam - he will be having an MRI Thursday September 21st due to sudden symptoms instead of October 5th. Please pray for my sister, her husband, Liam and his little brother Brody. Our family needs them so very much. Please your prayers and shares mean more than you can imagine.
Hi there, my mother Carol Hamilton shared this fundraiser to my wall in hopes I could offer information to Liams parents on my treatment methods used. I have a brain cancer, Glioblastoma Multiforme and have used both medical and alternative medical therapies. Iook forward to hearing from any family members, feel free to message me and my love and thoughts are with you all.. Kari Hubert
Hi again, sorry to ask again, but has Liam been tested for PD-L1 which is a protein that masks the tumor from the bodies immune system? - if the tumor exhibits PD-L1 then there are drugs, immunotherapy drugs, that "unmask" the cancer and Liam's own immune system, his T-Cells, would attack the tumor.
I am so sorry for your loss :(
Oh my god -- there are no words. The tears are falling down my face at this sad sad news. As a mother, I just can't imagine. Your little angel is as peace now. My sincerest condolences.
I am so sorry for the loss of Liam. My heart breaks for your family. Your memories of him will last forever.
