Wudang Kung Fu/Tai Chi & TCM Clinic

Hello, My name is Gregory Michael Casey. I am an Acupuncturist, Chinese herbalist, and teacher of Daoist meditation and Wudang Mountain Style Tai Chi, Qigong and Kung Fu. Since I was a young boy I loved the martial arts, nature, and spiritual aspects of life, and have dreamed of teaching for many years. I took some Karate lessons as a child, and Aikido in high school, then 11 years ago, when I moved away for college, I started my first Tai Chi classes and have been practicing Tai Chi and Chinese Kung Fu ever since. For the past 7 years I have focused intensely on learning Wudang Mountain style Tai Chi, Qigong and Kungfu. I have never been to China to study, but have been fortunate to be able to attend weekend seminars with DaoistPriests who spent their whole lives training at Wudang Mountain, and then came to the United States to teach. I would work very hard at these seminars, and then come home to practice what I learned intensely, then travel again to refine and learn more, usually a few times per year. Along with this I graduated from the 4 year masters degree program at Daoist Traditions College of Chinese Medical Arts in 2014 where I studied intensely with Daoist Priest, Jeffrey Yuen, in many topics including Acupuncture, Herbal Medicine, Food Therapy, Stone Medicine, Essential Oils, Qigong, Tai Chi, Kung Fu and Meditation. For the past 4 years my wife, Grace, and I have been saving to buy a house, which we just did in Burnsville, NC, 40 minutes north of Asheville, NC. I am now a teacher at Daoist Traditions College, where I have taught Qigong in the Masters degree program, taught Acupuncture Needling Techniques, worked as the Supervisor of the Herbal Gardens, and worked as a Clinical Internship Supervisor. I have also had a lot of experience practicing Acupuncture and Chinese medicine at other people's clinics since I graduated 4.5 years ago. My first experience teaching Tai Chi was in 2008 when my teacher at SUNY: Adirondack, Professor Li Xiaojun asked me to be his teaching assistant for the university's Tai Chi classes. Ever since that I became hooked on teaching and sharing these arts I love, and did so in parks all through my time as a graduate student in Asheville from 2010-2015, and then I taught at different studios and clinics in the places I have lived since then, including hundred's of free weekly "community classes", and many private lesson students. I have never been out to make a buck with any of these endeavors, just to share and promote these time honored healing martial arts, life skills, and medicinal philosophies and practices with the world. We moved into our house at the beginning of August 2018, and I have been receiving a TON of local interest for kids and adults meditation, qigong, Taichi, and Kung Fu classes, as well as classes on "Chinese Medicine for Everyone" where I plan to teach information and principles for healthy living that everyone can use to improve their health, longevity and sense of peace in their life. I also wish to open my own clinic to provide acupuncture, herbal medicine, and diet and lifestyle counseling.  There are so many "secrets" that I have learned that I want to give away... but I also have a huge amount of debt from my education and now a mortgage to pay! I am willing to do the leg work to setup a school and clinic space. I have carpentry and entrepreneurship in my blood and can do most of the physical work by myself and with my wife's help. The house we bought includes 1 acre of beautiful land running along a creek. The people we bought the house from still own another 47 acres of sloping woodland all around us, which we hope to buy or get a loan for as soon as we can afford it, with the intention of dedicating this land as a spiritual wilderness sanctuary and retreat where people can come and stay in little cabins and yurts we hope to build all around.  The house needs work, and has a huge garage which I hope to renovate into a teaching studio and clinic space. This is where you come in. I am writing this today to see who else might share my vision of a world where these arts of healing and peace I have cultivated in my life are more readily available to people with dedicated space. If you donate today, this money will go into a fund to renovate our garage into a teaching studio where I will teach weekly classes and workshops on all these topics I have mentioned, as well as invite the many masters I have personally studied with to come and share their extensive skills, knowledge and wisdom... teachers such as Jeffrey Yuen , 88th generation Daoist Priest of the Shang Qing Yu Qing Huang Lao tradition and Zhong Xuechao, 15th generation Daoist Priest of the Wudang Sanfeng tradition. My wife and I work very hard. This is my first day off in 15 days. I have thought of doing this for a long time, but have finally just decided to write this at the behest of my first relation on this planet and thereby longest standing teacher and advocate, my mother. She believes in me and my vision, now it's time to see who else does too. If you donate even a small amount you will be contributing to creating a sacred space for healing, growth, and self-discovery and self-improvement in the Heart of the mountains of Western North Carolina that will be open to all individuals who are in search of a guide and space for those services.  If this fundraiser is successful, any extra money from it will be saved and put towards purchasing the additional 47 acres that surround our property so that it does not become logged or sold to developers (they are asking $125,000). Beyond that, funds will be allocated to building small 1-2 person occupancy retreat cabins/yurts based on Feng Shui principles throughout the property where people can come to stay for spiritual and healing retreats year round and as accommodations for attending workshops here with myself and with masters I invite from around the world.

I have asked for $9000, as 9 is a sacred number which is thought to help bring things to a state of perfection. As for the specifics of what that will be spent on, it will start with renovating the garage space into a teaching studio including finishing the ceiling and walls and putting down an appropriate type laminate flooring, like bamboo.  You can see attached photos of the garage space as it is today, and more photos of our house and surrounding land. As I said, any additional funds will be saved to purchase the 47 acres that surround us to help establish my full vision for a wilderness sanctuary retreat. As time allows I will plan to upload some videos of myself demonstrating some Tai Chi and Kung Fu and giving a video introduction to who I am and the projects I am planning in the near future.

Thank you for your time and consideration in reading this and donating to see my dream and vision of a more peaceful world where there are more places dedicated to self-cultivation and healing through meditation, qigong, taichi, kung fu and Chinese medicine come to reality.

Sincerely,
Gregory Casey
