I work with a guy who tries way too hard.
Way too hard.
We are both teachers at Columbia High School in Columbia SC.
We both teach the same subjects and we both love our jobs. His name is Lucas Snyder. Thats him... down there.
He got married last June! That is him and his wife Lesley (also a teacher in our same district).
He told me something awesome a few weeks ago that was about to change his life forever.
If you don't get it, they are expecting in 8 months.
We've taught together for three years and we've helped each other through a lot.
Lesson plans, marriage proposals, coaching strategies. But this past weekend something happened that I alone can't help him with.
We had what has been referred to as a 1000 year flood.
My house house is fine. When the storm hit I literally slept in, with extra water and food in the house and pretty much assumed everyone else was OK and South Carolina had overestimated the severity of the situation yet again.
Until I heard from Lucas.
And he started sending me these...
That was his and Lesley's bedroom.
That was their living room.
That was their kitchen.
At this point you get it. They had about two and half feet of water running through their home. Their home that they bought just over a year ago to start their family in. Their home that they will be bringing a sweet girl or boy into in 8 months.
When you started reading this I told you about how this guy tries too hard. I'm going to have to be like him. I'm going to try hard to help them raise $13,500 to put a dent in the repair costs so they can bring their child from the hospital to a complete home.
