Waterbank School Kenya Supplies
Donation protected
Hi,
Our names are Fleur Bakker, 14, and Pieter Bakker, 18.
We are starting a project called Joy for Waterbank.
With this project, we hope to gather enough money together to buy toys, athletic equipment and shoes for the Uasonyiro School.
The Uasonyiro Primary School is not like any other school, it's a one of a kind school. This is because this school harvest the rain and filters it to clean water. The school teaches all the children there many subjects, including English. Now onto the reason why we chose this school. In the last summer break, we made an unforgettable trip to Kenya. During this trip, we saw a lot of wildlife, but we also visited the communities there. We saw the inside of the houses, we went to a group called SATUBO, and we visited the Uasonyiro Primary School. This was an absolutely amazing experience, we received a very warm welcome. After meeting some of the children and classes they prepared an amazing dance for us, and yes, we also danced with them. After we left, we immediately decided we wanted to give them back something.
When we started this project we first had to get an idea of what we wanted to get them. This was when we remembered that before we left we played a bit of soccer with them. And when we left we saw that all they had for a break to play with or for equipment for PE was a ball made out of fabric and a volleyball net that was barely standing up.
Let me explain our goal to you. Our goal is to give more equipment and experiences to the children. We want to give them soccer balls, basketball rings, soccer fields and shoes. We want to give them a more fun experience in school. When giving all these things we hope that we make all the children realise that exercise is important and that it can be really fun, and when using your imagination you can make up a lot of games with just a basketball. Fun is unlimited.
We hope to have achieved this goal by May 2019.
We hope that you are just excited about this project as we are and that you can realise how important it is to give this equipment to these kids.
Thank you a lot for taking the time to read this, and hopefully also for donating!
Kind Regards,
Fleur Bakker and Pieter Bakker
