The Washington High School Theater Troupe just won the highest theater honors in the state of West Virginia. Please donate to help them get to the International Festival! At the state competition, they won Best Play, Best Actress, Best Stage Management. They've been selected as the ONLY school to represent West Virginia at the International Thespian Society’s annual international theatre festival, where they will perform the play, The Shape of the Grave, to an international audience, university recruiters, and agents from across the country. According to the West Virginia chapter director, this is the first time a school from Jefferson County has represented the state in the Chapter Select Showcase. This is a once of a lifetime experience for these students. Most states have funds set aside to support their theater programs. WV has cut that funding to zero. As a result, we have a very short time to raise the funds. There are 23 students in the cast and crew plus three chaperones. The cost per student is approximately $1,300 - which covers the festival fee, lodging, food and transportation. Parents can cover almost half, but we need to raise the remainder. We must raise the funds by May 31st - please help their dreams come true by donating to our campaign! Many thanks to the Jefferson Arts Council for their support with grant writing and funding requests!
