Hello friends and family, small businesses and community members,

In a collaborative effort between Urban Moonshine, Sage Mountain and Zack Woods Herb Farm, we are raising money to purchase firewood for Standing Rock in anticipation of our community day of prayer on December 4th. With winter fast approaching and temperatures plummeting, they a have great need for warm indoor spaces to work and recover.

Although the Oceti Sakowin Camp was unjustly ordered to close by December 5th and government officials are communicating plans to obstruct the peaceful protest, the water protectors are NOT leaving and plan to remain.

Our goal is to purchase as much wood as possible to keep them warm during the winter.  We are working directly with  Standing Rock Medic + Healer Council  to get wood purchased and delivered as soon as possible.

We are hoping to meet our goal leading up to the day of prayer, which is happening on December 4th, in Burlington, Vermont with Rosemary Gladstar and other community members to pray for the water protectors.

A big thank you to everyone who made this fundraiser happen. We were able to raise our goal twice because of the outpouring of support! We were successful in organizing funds and getting them to the Medic + Healer Council for firewood. Many water protectors have stayed and will continue to camp throughout the winter. The firewood will be crucial in keeping indoor working and recovery spaces warm.

Please stay updated through the Facebook page of the Medic+ Healer Council as they continue to post updates about what is happening on the ground at Standing Rock.

Dear friends and community members far and wide,
We have been in contact with our friends from the Medic and Healer council at Standing Rock and have confirmed that despite the recent announcement of the pipeline being stopped, business is continuing as usual and the need for firewood is still great.
The water protectors are planning to stay.
We will pursue the plan of getting firewood to Standing Rock and are coordinating with them to work out the logistics.
Our event on Sunday was one of love and compassionate activism from our community.
200 + gathered to show support as we heard from community members who have been to Standing Rock, Abenaki indigenous elders, and earth keepers from Vermont who care deeply about the land, and the future of our planet.
We ended the event with an offering of communal waters that people brought from their homes, including water from the Cannon Ball River in North Dakota. We stood in solidarity and song as the sun was setting over Lake Champlain and offered out our pray in support to the water protectors. We returned indoors to the latest news that the Army Core had revoked the easement of the pipeline. Though this was fantastic, joyful news especially coming as it did at the end of our ceremony, it also brought with it so many questions.
Please see the letter that was released the morning of the 5th, from the tribe as it details what will happen over the coming weeks.

Thank you all for the generous donations, and we will update you once the firewood has been purchased and is on its way to Standing Rock!

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: (Dec 5, 2016, 8:00AM)

On Dec 4th, 2016, the US Army released a statement that said that the “Army will not grant easement for Dakota Access Pipeline Crossing” under Mini Sose (Lake Oahe). Energy Transfer Partners and Sunoco Logistics Partners, the majority shareholders in Dakota Access, responded to the Army’s statement:

As stated all along, ETP and SXL are fully committed to ensuring that this vital project is brought to completion and fully expect to complete construction of the pipeline without any additional rerouting in and around Lake Oahe. Nothing this Administration has done today changes that in any way.

The Standing Rock Medic & Healer Council (SRM&HC) does not anticipate a massive exit of water protectors from the DAPL Resistance Camps at Standing Rock, as we do not believe that the fight for the water is over. We are committed to caring for the health and wellbeing of anyone in camp as long as they are in camp. We expect this to last for months, especially given the upcoming change in presidential administration.

We celebrate for a moment, but understand the history surrounding federal and state dealings with tribal nations and the promises made and broken to the Lakota/Dakota/Nakota people.

We are here and ask you all to continue to support us for as long as camp remains. The weather is turning very cold with very low wind chills, and we intend to keep everyone safe and healthy through the winter.

We are still accepting donations via monetary funds to www.medichealercouncil.com/donate and will be releasing a new Amazon List for specific winter needs in the coming days.

Thank you and Mni Wiconi,

Standing Rock Medic & Healer Council
