Wally was recently diagnosed with a severe case of an autoimmune disease known as psoriatic arthritis.
After returning from the tour with dUg Pinnick & the Texas Poundation last year, he started experiencing several issues that are all now confirmed to be related. These include TMJ on both sides of his jaw, problems with the joints in his feet that cause swelling, extreme pain and difficulty walking, neck problems, severe pain in his tailbone that affects his ability to sit longer than a few minutes at a time, complete exhaustion and most recently, very serious problems with his right knee.
Without help this condition will continue to spread and attack every joint in the body that it can.
Wally's case is serious and incurable, but the progression can be slowed down with proper treatment before it spreads further. Treatment will not reverse the effects of the damage already caused by this disease but it can help manage his pain and restore some quality of life. He has spent a good portion of this year confined to bed. Due to the progression of this illness, he is currently disabled and his condition requires assistance with a cane on good days; on bad days he's unable to get around at all and relies on care from friends.
In early August, Wally was rushed to the emergency room, unable to walk and in extreme pain. Since then, he has made multiple visits to specialists to undergo arthrocentesis procedures only to have swelling and severe pain continually return.
Since his diagnosis last week from a rheumatologist, he has been subjected to more testing and imaging to determine the extent of permanent damage that this illness has caused to his back, tailbone, and spine. The next phase requires an aggressive series of treatments, including expensive biologic medicines that are injected under the skin.
All contributions to this campaign on GoFundMe will go directly to Wally to offset his enormous current and near-future medical bills. I am simply setting up the campaign but only he will have the ability to transfer any funds.
