Love & life I only dreamed of

My Mom is my hero and biggest inspiration in life. She was raised in an environment filled with incest, child prostitution and abuse. By the age of 14 she was living on the streets where drugs, alcohol and the violence she was raised with was her only means of survival. When she turned 21she got pregnant. Terrified of who she was and what she might do to a child ,she felt there was no way she could bring a child into this world and love it, so she attempted suicide.
By the grace of God, she was unsuccessful and the experience changed her forever. If She wasn’t going to die - she decided she was going to live. She made a choice to break the cycle of abuse. She was going to love me, even though she was never shown how to love and she was going to do whatever she could to help as many children - living the childhood she lived- know they are loved.
From protests on the capital where she handcuffed herself to the capital fighting for the rights of homeless youth to opening our home up to countless teenagers that ran away from home and were living on the streets like she once was. She is an angel and I could write pages of things I remember as a child that my Mom did to reach out to others. To share the message that love is the only thing that matters.
She always talked about a dream of buying land in the mountains and creating a place where everyone was safe and love conquered all. A place where hate and fear was non-existent. When I was 17 she moved to that mountain top and made that dream a reality. She has built her home on that mountain top. She literally put blood, sweat and tears into making that place what it is today. For 4 years she lived with no electricity and no running water, she turned a single room cabin into a 2 bedroom 1 bathroom home that runs on solar panels, has running water, a green house, gardens, chickens even a wood burning stove hot tub. She built campsites and trails and she built it all with love and determination in hopes that one day it might be a salvation for those of us who are working towards a world we would want to raise our children in.
Which brings me to my purpose behind this. She has put the last 14 years of her life into that mountain top, and now she has made the decision to sell it due financial difficulties as well as physical ones. For the last year and a half it has become more and more painful for her to walk. The doctor has told her she needs a new hip, which is a surgery that costs on an average $40,000. Even with her insurance she is looking at paying at least half of the cost which is $20,000 she doesn‘t have. She is having to sell her home due to financial struggles., and the money that remains after all her debt is paid is all that she has left. She can’t walk, but she continues to force herself through the pain because she has no other choice. If she uses the money from the house she’ll have a new hip but no money and no home. If she doesn’t get her hip replaced it’s only going to get worse. She doesn’t know what to do, I don’t know what to do. I feel so helpless and it’s killing me. If she can’t walk she can’t survive. She is by herself 4 hours away from me (from anyone) on a mountain top where the nearest town is a 45 minute drive. I don’t have the ability to move, I‘m struggling myself to get by.
She has to have this surgery and she shouldn’t have to choose between walking and having a home. It doesn’t seem right to see such a beautiful person who has so much strength, courage, determination, and endless unconditional love in her heart; who has done everything and anything in her power to help others still struggle after all these years. I don’t have the financial ability to help her or I would pay for it all, but I will do everything in my power to help her and I will start here with you. Our goal is $5,000. Thank You for taking the time to hear my story and if you’re able to help there are no words to express the appreciation I will hold for you in my heart. ~Be Blessed
