Wacky Racers 2016 was the first attempt at a gruelling driving challenge in aid of Pancreatic Cancer Action. This three day event, organised and sponsored by Incentive FM (http://www.incentive-fmgroup.com/) and
East Riding Group (http://www.eastridinggroup.co.uk/) saw a load of old bangers set off, armed with only a paper map, a list of mystery destinations and a great deal of trepidation. A variety of mainly geriatric drivers rivalled the ages and decrepitude of the cars themselves. Even harder was the obligatory selfie which had to be taken at each of the mystery destinations....both drivers, the car and the landmark had to be included in the shot....not easy when on a fast schedule!
Astonishingly, all the cars made it with some much the worse for wear after a trek across the North Yorkshire Moors. Even the drivers themselves survived. Check out the results on Facebook under Wacky Racers 2017.
This year's challenge is set to be even harder, with an ultra low budget for each car (thereby ensuring at least one will break down en route), even more mystery destinations per day (meaning teams will lose points for incomplete selfies or maybe not even finding the destinations) and more teams.
Last year's event raised approx £4,000 for research into pancreatic cancer. This year, we'd like to raise even more and, with your help, we may just succeed!
