Thursday, January 10th was a very difficult day for the Estrada Family.
During lunch, Analicia received a notification that someone was breaking into her home. Ana raced home to see the robber exiting the subdivision. Ana confronted the robber, attempting to give the young man an opportunity to right his wrongs. The man instead flung Ana from his vehicle, dragging her, running over her legs, and tossing her into the median.
Ana lay there bleeding, attempting to get someone to stop and render aid. A young woman finally stopped. The police and EMS came. EMS took Ana to the hospital, after fitting her with a tourniquet to stop the blood loss. Ana suffers severe abrasions on her back and arms, low blood count, broken legs, and severe tissue damage.
Ana lied in pain with her mother and sister for 5 hours until she was taken into emergency surgery that evening. The surgery uncovered a completely severed shin and lower leg bone on the right side, which had punctured through her skin. Both ankles were crushed and mended together with pins and rods. The left leg is missing significant amount of skin and muscle, and she will require multiple surgeries to graft new muscle and skin.
The Estrada Family will take on the emotional and financial burden of rehabilitating Ana's legs so that she may walk again. Your contribution is an immense help to the family, who has a very long, hard, expensive road ahead.
