So, our friend has cancer.
She texted me in May that she had two lumps that needed to be biopsied. "A little scary" she said.
I tried to reassure her with "40's suck and everything starts falling apart." I didn't really share her fear, I knew lots of people with lumpy boobs and I figured she was just another.
A week later she told me it was 2 kinds of invasive breast cancer.
Nearly four months later we are sitting here near the eve of her double mastectomy wondering what can we do? Make food? Run a marathon? Give blood? Something. There has to be something we can do to make this easier for our friend.
And then it hit us. She needs $20. She needs $20 from 600 people. You see, she and her family have been been burdened with an $11,000 insurance deductible. ($12,000 covers her deductible and the fee's associated with this effort.)

She needs every ounce of her energy to focus on healing. She needs to think about her son Josiah's first day of 3rd grade, not a $12,000 bill.
