Due to the wonders and vagueries of life, I absolutely HAVE to move. There is no leeway, be gone by the end of the month, don't let the door hit you on the butt!
Thanks to yet more wonderful friends, Luc and I have a place to go to, waiting for us in York Pa! Yay us! Problem solved, right?
WRONG!
Because... moving costs MONEY, and if we had any we wouldn't have been forced to move in the first place!
So... I am begging you (and your friends and family and everyone and anyone who are nice enough to share this to!) for your help!
I would like to hire real movers, if possible, so I don't have to add in begging a friend with a vehicle and/or license to give up a couple of days of their lives to help me out.
I am going to have to get rid of a TON of things, just to bring our stuff down to the lowest possible estimate for movers I've received (which, by the way, are ranging from the $1,000 to the $1,500 range, just because of the whole "interstate" bit). These estimates are as much based on stuffage as distance, so "additional costs" and unforeseen expenses" can add up, if I'm not careful (I've seen it happen to friends). I would rather be safe than sorry!
Add in travel expenses (train fare, etc) for Luc and I to get ourselves down there, because otherwise we can't get there ourselves, and things begin adding up. A lot. A lot more than we have, in fact.
Other ways to help would be:
1. Looking at my small "Moving List" wish list over at Amazon (made public and under the name Selina Harvey) or send Amazon Gift Cards so I can use them towards things on that list.
2. Stop and Shop (they're the only truly "local" store, as in "don't have to take bus there and cab back, adding to the cost!) gift cards (for food purchases) would also be welcome, as every penny saved on food can be put towards the moving!
Sadly, this is needed AS SOON AS POSSIBLE, as I can't put a down payment to get a reservation until I have enough money put by to at least cover the estimate (in other words, I need to know that we can at least fully pay the mover's base costs).
Oh, and did I mention that the best time for ALL of this to happen is over the Holiday break at achool? Yeah, less disruptive to Luc (scholastically) that way, plus it gets us out by the official deadline of the "end of the month".
This move is a very hopeful sign, and comes with opportunities for bot Luc and I to flourish, far away from "big city living". I've researched the schools and the ones he is likely to go to are all reviewed as excellent, and I won't have to live in as much fear of either of us becoming someone else's "collateral damage" (our current neighborhood consists of mass shootings, drug busts, a few knifings, a couple of shootings, and one kidnapping... all within 5 blocks of our house, many closer)!
Please, if you can, help us to get on track to a better life!
