The Mental Health and Health Care system has failed my daughter. Destiny was diagnosed with multiple mental health conditions in 2012, at an early age of only eleven. Since her diagnosis she has faced many struggles, leading her to illegal drug use, several suicide attempts, violent and irrational behavior towards her loved ones, and has been arrested several times. Destiny is only fourteen years old. This is my worst nightmare.
My daughter has fallen through the cracks in every way and is receiving maybe twice a month care from the Child and Youth Mental Health in BC. This amount of care is almost useless for someone who has serious suicidal tendencies.... This is NOT her fault. This is a serious, and complex mental health condition that needs consistent and persistent care that our Government in BC will not recognize, and quite frankly just does not offer.
I've tried everything. I have been her biggest advocate and come up against wall after wall. I have gone to the media, government, hospitals, Ministries and every single one of them have told me that their hands are tied, that there just are not any resources available for a child like Destiny. She is a very unique case that needs a lot of different therapies which will most likely span her lifetime. It has been so incredibly defeating, and my heart breaks watching Destiny slip further and further away as I am helpless to stop it.
Destiny had been discharged twice in 3 weeks for suicide attempts from the Abbotsford hospital after I begged for them to stabilize her. After the second attempt, she went missing and was a missing person for a week and found in Surrey (sex trade).

A new clip of me being interview by Global News - this is the 3rd time they have interviewed me over the past few months in regards to the health care system and the care of my child.

Destiny needs stabilization. She requires private psychiatry, private therapy, a 90 day treatment in a rehabilitation facility, specialized medication for her mental health conditions and tutoring because of all the school she has missed. Treatment alone for her mental health and drug issues cost over $250.00 per day and she ideally needs to be in a program for 90 days. My family is banning together to pay for what we can but this is just impossible without the help of others. We need to raise the funds to get her private, consistent care immediately. The BC Mental Health and Medical systems are not adequate and not helpful in any way.
I have lost almost all hope and this is my last plea for help. Please help me save my daughter, help her get the support, care and medication she needs. My family and I are incredibly grateful for any help we receive. Thank you so much.
